The flag of the United States of America, also called the "Stars and Stripes" or "Old Glory", is a powerful symbol of American identity and values. The flag features thirteen horizontal stripes alternating red and white which represents the original thirteen colonies. Also featured in the top left blue rectangle is fifty stars symbolizing states in the union. This flag was adopted on July 4, 1960.
